The AIB (NI) Postgraduate Law package is designed to support you when you need it most. You will receive all the benefits of the Student+ Account, with additional financial support to make it easy for you to manage your finances whilst studying for your professional qualification.
This account is available as a sole account to new and existing customers aged 18 years who are a postgraduate law student and who are enrolled on a professional course, with a recognised college of law, leading to qualification as a solicitor, barrister or equivalent qualification.
Features and benefits
No monthly maintenance fees during the term of the account
An interest-free overdraft of up to £1,850 (subject to status)
The first £1,850 of any arranged overdraft (subject to status) will be interest-fee (0% EAR variable). This is not an automatic overdraft and you must apply if you require one.
There is no fee for arranging or using the agreed overdraft whilst you hold your Student Account.

No commission charge for foreign currency
Easy access to your money with our Visa debit card
A Visa debit card allows you to make purchases and withdraw money from your bank account worldwide*. You can use your card in shops, at cash machines and online wherever Visa Debit is accepted. You can also check your balance at any AIB (NI) or AIB cash machine.

Bank securely at a time and place that suits you
AIB (NI) Online, Mobile or Phoneline Banking puts you in control of your finances. Many of the things you do at the branch counter you can do sitting at home with Online Banking - checking your balances, paying your bills, transferring money, ordering a statement and carrying out a cheque search.

Student Visa Credit Card facility available to help you budget during term time
We have a range of flexible finance options in addition to an overdraft to help you manage the cost of investing in education throughout the full university cycle.
Our Student Visa Credit Card also gives you spending power in your pocket whether it's for every day essentials or to take advantage of those last minute online deals.

Switch your student banking to us 'stress-free' in seven working days
Switch your current account from one bank or building society to another in a simple, reliable and stress-free way. It will only take seven working days. As your new current account provider we offer the following guarantee:
- The service is free to use and you can choose and agree your switch date with us.
- We will take care of moving all your payments going out (for example, your Direct Debits and standing orders) and those coming in (for example, your salary).
- If you have money in your old account, we will transfer it to your new account on your switch date.
- We will arrange for payments accidentally made to your old account to be automatically redirected to your new account. We will also contact the sender and give them your new account details.
- If there are any issues in making the switch, we will contact you before your switch date.
- If anything goes wrong with the switch, as soon as we are told, we will refund any interest (paid or lost) and charges made on either your old or new current accounts as a result of this failure.

To open a new Student+ Account with the postgraduate law package, simply call into your local AIB branch or call us on 0345 6005 925† if you would prefer to make an appointment.
You will need to bring evidence of your acceptance to the course.
If you hold an existing Current Account with us, you can swap to the Student+ Account without opening a new account.

Information about borrowings
As a responsible lender, we will only lend you money after assessing whether you are able to make the repayments.
We will only issue credit facilities depending on your financial circumstances. You must be aged 18 or over. Please ask us for full details of terms and conditions and written quotations.
We adhere to the Standards of Lending Practice which sets standards for banks when dealing with lending and overdrafts for personal customers. You can get more information on the Standards from any branch or at www.lendingstandardsboard.org.uk. Under the Standards we have also developed a Statement of Lender and Borrower Responsibilities to ensure that the relationship works well for both of us.
