• I am a non-UK resident with a current account with AIB (NI). Will I be able to get an overdraft on my existing account in 2021? If not, will I be able to get a loan?

  As you are a non-UK resident we will not provide new accounts, or new facilities such as overdrafts or loans to you after 1 January 2021. You will be able to continue to use any existing accounts/facilities that you already have with us.

• I am a non-UK resident and I have an overdraft on my account which I don’t currently use. Will it still be available to me after 1 January 2021?

  Your existing overdraft will still be available to you after 1 January 2021 and your account will be able to go overdrawn up to the limit of your current arranged overdraft. However, you will not be able to apply for an increase to your current overdraft.

• I am a non-UK resident with a fixed term deposit account that matures in February 2021. Will I be able to continue to keep this account after its maturity?

  You will be able to keep this account after it matures, but you will not be able to put additional funds into this account after 1 January 2021.

• I am a non-UK resident and I have a joint account with my partner, who is resident in the UK. Will our joint account be affected by Brexit? Will we be able to open additional joint accounts in 2021?

  Your joint account will not be affected as one of the parties on this account is UK resident. You will also be able to open new joint accounts provided that the other party to the account is a UK resident.

  However, as a non-UK resident, you will not be able to open a sole account with AIB (NI) after 1 January 2021

• I am a non-UK resident with an AIB (NI) Credit Card. Will I be able to extend my credit limit in January 2021?

  You will be able to continue to use your existing personal or business credit card up to its current credit limit, but you will not be able to have this credit limit increased after 1 January 2021.

• I am currently working and resident outside the UK, but I will be returning to the UK in March 2021. Will I be able to open an account with AIB (NI) prior to my return?

  You will only be able to open an account with AIB (NI) after 1 January 2021 once you are resident in the UK and you can provide your proof of address required for account opening.

• I am living in Spain and I have no plans to move back to the UK. I am due to receive my UK State Pension in June 2021 and I will need a UK bank account to receive it. Can you advise what I should do?

  If you have an existing AIB (NI) current account then you will be able to use this account to receive your pension payments in 2021. If you do not have an existing AIB (NI) current account then we recommend that you talk to your bank in Spain as it may be able to open a UK bank account for you. AIB (NI) will not open any accounts for non-UK residents after 1 January 2021.

• I have an AIB (NI) account but I do not currently use Online or Mobile banking. Will I be able to apply for Online and/or Mobile banking in 2021?

  You will be able to apply for Online and Mobile banking on your existing accounts in 2021.

• Will my existing direct debits and standing orders be affected by these changes?

  Your existing accounts and services will continue to work as normal in 2021. You will also be able to set-up new direct debits and standing orders and to amend any existing ones.

• I live in the Republic of Ireland but I work in Northern Ireland and have an account with AIB (NI) into which my wages are paid. Will I still be able to keep this account after 1 January 2021?

  You will be able to continue to use any accounts that you already have with AIB (NI). You will not be able to open any new accounts with AIB (NI) due to the fact that you are not resident in the UK.

• I live outside the UK but I own a small company which is incorporated and registered in the UK. Will I be able to open a business account for my UK registered company with AIB (NI) in 2021

  As your company is a UK registered company you will be able to open a business account with AIB (NI).
