Customer Notice statement for TUK2023/03
We are letting customers know that we made a mistake when we switched them from a Student+ account to a current account, or from a Graduate account to a current account. We have taken action to correct the error and ensure that it does not happen again in the future.
When the customer had a Graduate or Student+ account, it had an interest-free overdraft. When we switched them to a current account, we did not provide them with the credit agreement informing them that there would now be interest charged on their overdraft.
We will be refunding any customer affected by this error, either with a refund (called ‘AIB TUK2023/03 Refund) into their open AIB account or by cheque. We will also be completing the remediation of their credit files by removing all arrears during the relevant time period if necessary.
Where relevant, we will be providing customers with the credit agreement for their accounts with the conditions of their overdraft going forward.
Once again, we apologise for this error.
If any customer feels this error affected credit decisions by us or other financial institutions, we will work with those customers to address this issue.
