Confirm by AIB Authenticator App

If you use  your AIB business debit or credit card to shop online, you may be asked to approve your payment in the AIB Authenticator App.

Get set up

To approve online payments, you and any additional business cardholders need to use the AIB Authenticator App.

Download the app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store and follow the steps to set it up.

You need to set up the app before you can approve online card payments.  If you do not, your online purchase might not go through.

This app is for AIB business cards only.

Already using the app?

If you already have the AIB Authenticator App for AIB business cards issued in the Republic of Ireland, you do not need to download it again.

Just:

  • open the app and log in
  • select ‘AIB in Republic of Ireland’ as your primary region
  • add your AIB (NI) business card

You can use the same app and login details to approve all your AIB business cards.  For more information on the region selector click here.

Set up the app

1. Download the App

Download the app from the Apple Store or the Google Pay Store

2. Select Region

Select the region your business card was issued from. You can add cards from more than one region.

3. Allow Notifications

Turn on notifications so we can send you alerts when you need to approve a payment.

4 . Log in or register

  • If you already use Online and Phoneline Banking, log in with your registration number and personal access code (PAC)
  • If you are not registered, you can register in the app.

5. Verify your device

Select a phone number to receive a code to verify your device

6. Confirm your mobile numbers in the app

We will send a code to your phone so you can confirm your personal and business mobile numbers in the app.

7. Add your business card

Add your business card and you’re ready to use it online.

How to approve a payment

When you are shopping online:

  1. You will see a message on screen asking you to check your phone.
  2. On your phone, tap on the message and follow the steps in the notification to approve the purchase.
  3. Return to the online store and select “I have approved in my app” or “complete” if this appears on screen.

If you do not get the notification

You can still approve your purchase in the app:

  • log in to the app and follow the steps, or
  • log in to the app, tap the bell icon on the top right of the Account screen and follow the steps.
