This current account is for students between the ages of 12 and 18 who are in part time or full time second level education.
Please note you must be a UK resident to open an account with us.

You can arrange your part-time earnings or Education Maintenance Allowance to be paid into your account, helping you save towards something special.

Banking free from monthly maintenance fees
With a Student 12-18 Account, you can enjoy banking free from monthly maintenance fees.

No commission charge for foreign currency
You will not pay any commission charges on foreign currency notes transactions completed at a AIB branch.

The option of a Visa debit card for easy access to your money
If you aged 16 or over, you can choose to avail of our flexible Visa debit card.
If are between 12-16 years old, parental consent is required before we can issue you with this card.
Visa debit cards can be used to shop in stores, online or over the phone. You can also withdraw money at cash machines*.

Bank online or on your mobile at a time and place that suits you
AIB (NI) Online, Mobile and Phoneline Banking puts you in control of your finances. Many of the things you do at the branch counter you can do sitting at home or on the move, such as checking your balances or transferring money.

Open your account today
To open a new Student 12-18 Account, simply call into your local AIB branch or call us on 0345 6005 925† if you would prefer to make an appointment.
Please note you must be a UK resident to open an account with us.
You only need £10, identification documentation (such as your passport) and proof of your address (such as your parents' or guardians' electricity bill) to open the account.

Seamlessly move into the Student + Account when you turn 18
When you reach the age of 18, we will convert your account to a Student + Account.
Your account details will not change and we will contact you at this stage to confirm this change.

From the 6 April 2016 credit interest on all accounts will be paid gross (under new legislation tax will not be deducted when credit interest is paid). If your credit interest is more than your Personal Savings Allowance you may still have tax to pay. Please see www.gov.uk for information on the Personal Savings Allowance or speak to a tax advisor.
